The book at a glance
Before the Milky Way was colonised, humans only inhabited the third planet from the Sun, the Earth: nowadays, a trip to the Solar System is a must for understanding the origin of modern galactic civilization. This is the best tourist guide around: don’t leave without it! In its two parts – Inner System (from Mercury to Mars) and Outer System (from Jupiter to Neptune) – there are tips on accomodation, eating, natural and cultural itineraries, entertainment, souvenirs. Together with breathtaking images of planets and satellites, every section proposes advice, curiosities, the experts’ say. The traveller will find accurate scientific data and explanations, historical and up to date facts on the main tourist attractions. The authors, both scientists and space guides themselves, mean to promote the 3C astro-tourism: Cultivated, Conscious, and Cosmo-sustainable.
One thing is sure: Douglas Adams would have loved this popular astronomy book!
«An orienteering competition on Venus, a walk on Mars: this is how holidays will look like in 10.000 years. Only at the end of the book the reader is brought back to reality by the comprehensive scientific sources» —Io Donna (Corriere della Sera)
