The book at a glance
Could we establish stronger social relationships? Fear helps us survive and live longer. And, most of all, we like it. It sounds so paradoxical: fear is naturally meant to help us keep away from danger, nevertheless just think of the delight some people take in driving fast, the fun of parachuting or the strong emotions at watching a horror movie, playing war videogames, working as a broker or an investor.
You needn’t be as brave as a sportsman or a soldier… Danger may be part of everyday life. Be it your job or passion.
The author enquires into the law of repulsion and attraction of fear by quoting those who choose risk as a career and providing scientific explanations of it. Adrenaline is just one of the several reactions to fear, a chemical that can possibly produce pleasure and modify behaviour.
