The book at a glance
Since the day the man understood how to exploit nuclear energy, history has changed its course forever. Brilliant scientific discoveries as well as dreadful applications have marked human history.
What is there inside an atom? Who discovered it and how? How can it properly be used for the benefit of mankind?
This book tells everything about nuclear energy: from the discovery of radioactivity to the studies on nuclear fusion; from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima to the current terroristic threats; from the functioning of nuclear power plants to Fukushima nuclear disaster; from waste disposal to medical applications. Nuclear energy is used in several fields - military, civilian, scientific and medical - affecting our present and future lives for better or for worse.
